Austria Lech
Ski Chalet
This contemporary take on a chalet can be found in Lech, a popular mountain village and exclusive ski resort on the western side of Austria. Working solely with a team of Austrian architects and builders to complete the project, the space takes inspiration from traditional chalets found in the area, but with a modern and lighter twist.
Herringbone tiles line the bathroom walls represent the peaks of the mountain ranges and the client’s own vintage posters are peppered throughout, injecting pops of colour. Transitioning from forest greens to burnt reds, the colour palette reflects the changing seasons and is an ode to traditional Austrian costume, creating a cosy and warm escape to unwind in front of the fire after a day on the slopes.
Kind words
“Working with Katie was an absolute joy. Katie took a tired old apartment in Marylebone and transformed it into a space for modern living with a Parisienne feel. We were so pleased with Katie’s work that we had no hesitation to use her again for our ski apartment where her use of colours in keeping with the natural environment gave a fresh and modern twist to a classically Tyrolean design.”
